Newborn Needs

You might notice that our needs list is rather small compared to others.  That’s because we truly believe that in the first eight weeks or so of life, babies don’t really need that much “stuff.” Start off with the items below and add more as you see the need.

Here’s how to keep it simple:

                        
PREEMIE & NEWBORN CLOTHES FEEDING &/OR NURSING
BABY GEAR & BABY CARE PARENT CARE

  • Rest & Love 
  • Maternity pads (maxi-pads)
  • Sitz bath herbs
  • Perineal Bottles
  • Water bottle for drinking water**
  • Bedside clock* (keep track of the time during nighttime feedings & avoid using your phone)
  • Important Phone Numbers list
  • Did we say Rest, & Love and LOTS of it?

     DIAPERING

    		 ADDITIONAL HELPFUL "STUFF"
    • Diapers or Diaper Service (10-12 diapers per day)
    • Diaper Covers if cloth diapering (5-7 total)
    • Wipes (consider reusable)
    • Organic Olive Oil* (slather on diaper area to prevent meconium sticking in the first few days)
    • Diaper Cream
    • Waterproof Changing Pad
    • Diaper Pail/bin for dirty diapers*
